Obstetrician And Gynaecologist

Details of the offer

Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora - South Canterbury (Timaru Hospital) South Island - New Zealand

Obstetrician and Gynaecologist 1 FTE (Part or Full time Option)

Right now, we have a vacancy for an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (O&G) Specialist role, covering both gynaecology and secondary obstetric care to join the team at Timaru Hospital.

Located in the South Island of New Zealand, the district of South Canterbury is centrally located and an easy place to live and work, with instant access to an array of outdoor activities.

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Timaru Hospital is looking for an O&G Specialist to join our passionate team of four. This is a genuinely rare opportunity to be part of a team striving to be recognised for the service they provide locally to the women of South Canterbury.

The team works from a redeveloped, well-resourced facility, where the on-call commitment is generally 1:4 during the week and weekends.

While all applications from qualified O&G Specialists are welcome, ideally the team would like to add to our service someone who has a significant level of clinical practice experience behind them.

Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora - South Canterbury is responsible for the delivery of health services throughout the South Canterbury region. Timaru Hospital (131 beds) serves a district population of approximately 50,000 based in a General Hospital Facility, which has just commenced a significant refurbishment programme, providing our local community with critical 24/7 services such as ED, ICU/CCU, General, Orthopaedic, & ENT Surgery, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Oncology & Palliative Care, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect, and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We are a proudly diverse team, as we know a diverse and inclusive workforce achieves the best outcomes for our patients and communities.

If you share in these core values and bring them into every aspect of your patient care, we encourage you to apply.

Why Timaru and the South Canterbury region? We are the best big little city you will find, located on the coast and Caroline Bay, with the majestic Southern Alps in the background.

Timaru is an easy place to live, family-friendly, and with easy access to an array of outdoor activities - beaches, ski fields, lakes, mountains, and hiking tracks.

The primary and secondary educational facilities are superb, and there are two internationally renowned universities within two hours' drive North and South from Timaru.

Free parking and an easy commute to work really helps with true work-life balance!
