You will become a member of a small team of five O & G specialists based in Whakatane, with whom you will share the on call and elective workload. You should therefore be a good team player with a flexible work ethic. Knowledge of the New Zealand healthcare system will be an advantage.
We serve a large catchment area within the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Our clients are from a diverse background, with the majority being Maori. There is a lot of pathology, making this one of the few remaining places in New Zealand for someone who desires making a big, real, and positive impact in people's lives. Are you that person?
The Whakatane Hospital maternity service is a Secondary level service with approximately 700 births a year. A Level 2 Special Care Baby Unit is located within the maternity facility. Patients requiring Tertiary care are referred to Waikato and/or Auckland Hospitals. Elective gynaecology services, including full Colposcopy services, are provided locally. We have well-resourced theatre facilities for acute and elective surgery, including minor and major open and minimal access procedures.
