In the contemporary world, the ability to rapidly and continuously identify and process a range of information from multiple sources, to gain broad awareness of significant events, is vital to an intelligence organisation. Within GCSB, this situational awareness is provided by NZSOC Operations Officers.
Key responsibilities The NZSOC provides 24/7 situational awareness and overwatch to GCSB and selected New Zealand government agencies. You will operate with a significant degree of autonomy, monitoring unfolding global and regional events, exercising discretion, initiative and judgement while interacting across the New Zealand Intelligence Community and beyond.You will have access to a wide range of classified and unclassified information and tools and be required to rapidly assess this for relevance to New Zealand interests and requirements. In the event of a crisis anywhere in the world, NZSOC plays a key role in coordinating and synchronising the response of the New Zealand Intelligence Community.Who we're looking for A strong interest in international affairs and New Zealand's perspectives and interests.The ability to quickly assimilate information from multiple sources, and to make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations, irrespective of the time of day or night.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the confidence to brief information to operational senior leaders.Technical aptitude with the motivation to learn new systems and applications.NZSOC Operations Officers work on a 24/7 shift basis, reflecting the world we live in and the potential for significant events to occur at any time. Operations Officers also work during normal business hours when required to conduct training and administrative tasks.

You must:
Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 yearsOR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
