Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
The Liaison Psychiatry service is based at Auckland City Hospital, a central location with easy access to public transport.
The Liaison Psychiatry team comprises Consultant Psychiatrists including liaison, addiction and neuropsychiatry specialists; Nurse Specialists, a Nurse Practitioner, a Clinical Psychologist, Registrar and excellent admin support. We regularly welcome student nurses and medical students on clinical placements so there is opportunity to be involved in their learning experience. We are a sociable and friendly team who enjoy working together and support one another.
As a Nurse Specialist you will be involved in urgent and planned assessments, planning and delivering care and treatment to service users throughout the hospital as well as assessing all people presenting with self-harm in the Emergency Department.
The work is complex but rewarding and you will need to be able to think on your feet and be skilled, adaptable and responsive. Your passion for mental health nursing and ability to practice autonomously will be evident and you will join a functional and highly skilled team of senior nurses in a supportive multi-disciplinary team. We are committed to supporting the team to engage in ongoing professional development to undertake non-clinical duties such as teaching.
The role involves working rostered morning and afternoon shifts Monday to Sunday.
Remuneration will be at Grade 3 of the senior nursing scale, of the Mental Health & Public Health Nursing (PSA).
Nga Pukenga Motuhake | Important Skills
To be successful for this role, you will need to be an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse with NZ registration and a current APC. Ideally you will have completed a Post Graduate Certificate in a relevant area of specialty practice.
