The Salvation Army Bridge service provides a range of effective addiction recovery support services in both residential and community-based settings.
The Bridge uses a range of evidence-based holistic approaches to reduce the physical, physiological, spiritual and social harm that can result from the use of alcohol and or other drugs.
The Bridge welcomes diversity and is inclusive of culture, age, disability, sexuality and gender identity.
We are also committed to supporting people who experience co-existing mental health challenges and take a kaupapa whanau (working with other services) approach in working together to support the well-being of our tangata whai ora (clients).
Our services encourage participation in the development and practical application of skills where people are supported to set their own goals and recovery plan in order to reduce the harmful effects of alcohol and or other drugs.
About the role
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an expert nursing role that promotes health, prevents disease, assesses, diagnoses, treats and manages people's health needs.
It includes supervised prescribing in a supportive environment in order to increase the capability and capacity of the practice team and overall aims to:

Lead a small team of Salvation Army nursing staff across Bridge and Addington Supportive Accommodation in Addington.
Provide high quality, holistic, convenient and cost-effective, evidence-based healthcare services.
Ensure appropriate access to medical support including medication and medical consultation.
Support and development of appropriate models of care.
Support the development of interdisciplinary teamwork keeping the tangata whai ora at the centre of care.
Take accountability for differential diagnosis and prescribing decisions based on nursing assessments.
Provide clinical nursing leadership, building and extending existing nursing skills and knowledge within the Practice.
Oversee internal monitoring of medical services.
Provide expert support to manage infection control and minimise infection risk across the services.
Our ideal candidate will:

Registered Nurse with Nursing Council New Zealand with Nurse Practitioner endorsement.
Master's in Health Science (Advanced Nursing).
Holds a current practising certificate without conditions.
Holds personal professional indemnity insurance.
Evidence of current professional development (portfolio of evidence).
Clinically and culturally competent in delivering nursing care.
Sound knowledge and understanding of medico/legal and ethical responsibilities.

This is a permanent, part-time role and hours worked will be 16 hours per week (must include a Monday).
The starting salary for this role will be based on the relevant MECA rate.
