Nurse As Private Carer For Tetraplegic Guy

Details of the offer

I am tetraplegic from a spinal injury many years ago, and live in central Christchurch. I'm looking for a nurse, for all cares involved in getting me up and ready for the day, including toilet, shower, catheter change, dressing, transfers to & from bed, and breakfast - starting at 7 am and takes less than 5 hours each morning. So I just pay for 5 hours every morning, regardless. Due to the nature of the job, i.e. I can't be left in bed, reliability is very important, including robust health and reasonable fitness. Why am I interested in an R.N.? I have very good health, and the secret to that is noticing potential problems early on – this is where a nurse with depth of knowledge and experience comes in. I have one enrolled nurse with many years of experience in the spinal injuries unit, but she has backed off to only two mornings a week with me. I have two healthcare workers for the rest of the week, but one of them needs to move on. Hence the opportunity for me to take on an R.N. for two mornings, and who is also available to fill-in when others are away or unwell. Why would an RN be interested in this job? I have been lucky enough to have two RNs to call on, and they both like the job for a similar reason. After three years of nursing full-time in the hospital, they were ready for a change, and have been working in casual pool, both public and private hospital. But having another job like mine gives them flexibility with the working week and maintaining income. And also I like to go travelling in our winter time, and they have accompanied me, especially to the tropical end of Queensland. Sadly both of them are moving on soon, to live and work in Australia - hence this advertisement. My immediate need is someone for two mornings out of Saturday Sunday Monday. Also occasional mornings when one of the other carers is away or unwell. Additionally I have a carer to put me to bed and sleep over in the spare room in case I need help over night. Same thing, need backup for when one of them is away or unwell. There is some flexibility about this, so we can also discuss in person what suits you. One of my current carers and I would train you up. Pay is in the range $40 – $45 gross per hour, depending on qualifications/experience. The money comes from the ACC via me. Neither the ACC nor I are your employer – you would be working as self-employed (sole trader in the IRD terminology). So you would be responsible for your own tax and ACC cover. If you think this might suit you, please get in touch via email with some information about yourself, date when you can start, and any questions.
