The application window for this role is anticipated to remain open until the job is filled, or as otherwise determined by GMO.Overview:The Business Development Manager - Intermediary will provide a competitive advantage to GMO in the marketing of its investment management capabilities to advisor teams working at select Wirehouses and Independent Broker Dealers in the West Coast Region.The Business Development Manager - Intermediary will be responsible for building GMO's business in a manner that is consistent with GMO's investment capabilities, goals and culture through the following efforts:Construct and execute on a comprehensive, structured calling planPartner closely with other members of the Intermediary Business Development team to proactively identify and create new revenue and business opportunitiesDrive sales of recommended products through regional advisor officesCultivate relationships with key decision makersMaintain a strong industry network through conference attendance and other avenues, as well as a solid understanding of the competitive landscape and how it is evolvingContribute meaningfully to the growth and diversification of GMO's revenue baseCollaborate closely with the Marketing team to curate collateral and events for the advisor client baseCommunicate with various constituents throughout the organization (GMO) to provide market/industry information, education on channel and feedbackRequired Skills:5+ years of direct responsibility for their own territory with proven sales resultsExternal wholesaling experience, including a solid working knowledge of the major Wirehouses and IBDsA proven system of engagement rigour/sales discipline that has consistently translated into new business success in products spanning equities, fixed income and alternatives is essential.Robust existing network of contacts and strong institutional experience, including applicable conference circuit (Public, E&F, SFOs)Proven ability to confidently communicate and be an advocate for GMO's broad investment strategies across a wide range of intermediary clientsOutstanding communication (written and oral), presentation and interpersonal skillsIn-depth understanding about financial markets and the ability to clearly discuss investment techniques, strategies and concepts including fixed income, equities and alternativesStrong organizational skills and attention to detailBachelor's DegreeCFA a plusWill be required to pass Series 63, 7 and 3, within specified time frameLocation:Candidate will focus on business development in major metro markets on the West CoastPersonal Characteristics:High energy, positive attitude, intellectual curiosity and professionalismComfortable working both independently and as part of a teamDemonstrable leadership skills with the ability to direct and mentor less experienced team membersAbility to prioritize multiple tasks, set goals and meet deadlinesSelf-directed and motivatedAbility to forge strong working relationships internally and externally$170,000 - $200,000 a yearThis salary range is estimated for this role and actual pay may be different based on a candidate's qualifications and/or years of experience. In addition, this position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus award, which award may be determined by individual, team, department and firm performance, and is subject to the terms of GMO's compensation plan. This position is also benefits eligible.
