Our client is looking for experienced Network Engineer to join their fantastic team.
As a Network Development Engineer, you would develop,review and update network planning, distributed generation, protection, and control standards to ensure compliance and meet business goals.
Key Responsibilities: Manage and optimize Digsilent Powerfactory network modeling software, conducting load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and protection studies. Investigate both traditional and non-network solutions for future capacity and security gaps, developing conceptual designs, high-level budgets, and project scopes. Prioritize health and safety by identifying and mitigating workplace hazards and integrating 'Safety in Design' principles into daily activities. Align actions with organizational values, fostering open communication by sharing successes, failures, and innovative ideas, while taking ownership of issues and actively supporting team goals. Conduct comprehensive research on customers' energy needs, formulate long-range scenarios for process heat decarbonization, electric vehicles, distributed generation, and emerging technologies, while also creating and maintaining demand and generation forecast scenarios. Stay updated on modern technologies relevant to network planning and performance. Education, experience and skills required Tertiary qualified in Electrical Engineering with specialisation in power systems or energy technology 5+ years of power system engineering experience, with expertise in system modeling, and preferably, protection and control. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to analyze data and apply statistical methods (preferred). Proficient in desktop PC applications, with advanced knowledge of power system analysis tools (Digsilent Powerfactory and Power BI preferred). Strategic thinking, excellent conceptual reasoning skills, and a proven ability to build collaborative relationships. Tenacity in problem-solving, demonstrating a track record of overcoming complex challenges. Commercial and financial acumen, including risk management skills for project budgeting and financial assessments (preferred). Practical understanding of construction and engineering techniques (preferred). Experience in scripting using Python (preferred). Membership of Engineering New Zealand or equivalent institution (preferred) Professional engineering registration (preferred Southern Cross Health Insurance: Network Waitaki employees eligible for "Wellbeing One" package.
