About the Role:
As a Network and Security Designer you will be accountable for architecting, building, and documenting complex solutions, with a view to successfully handing these over to the operational teams for support.
The successful candidate must possess technical skills and experience across the following areas:
Design
Create and maintain detailed design documents, diagrams, engineering specifications, configurations, technical implementation plans, trouble shooting and support guides, systems metrics, project planning and information for existing and emerging technologies.
Design reusable solutions to support predictable environments for support teams.
Demonstrate innovative thinking and translate this into business processes, solutions and working practice improvements.
Delivery
Ensure build activities are completed as per engineering diagrams and in alignment with architecture, network and security standards as well as best practices.
Perform problem diagnosis, initiate problem resolution, and provide ongoing life-cycle support.
Advise as an expert on technical and operational processes to meet a customer's business requirements.
Act as a key contributor in providing guidance to technical groups.
Maintain a reputation for quality and timely delivery of projects.
Leadership and Partnerships
Manage positive and effective relationships and work in partnership with leadership, Spark colleagues, vendors, and contractors.
Provide technical leadership in designing and implementing stable, secure and manageable solutions.
Mentor junior team members.
Project Support
Utilise performance data and historical metrics to effectively plan for growth, upgrades, migrations, optimisations and new implementations by identifying and resolving efficiency issues to improve services for our customers.
Constructive and positive collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.

Technical Skills
Relevant advanced Networking, including datacentre, Wireless and routing/switch Professional or Expert level qualifications from Cisco.
Additional certifications in the following would help you stand out – Fortinet, Aruba.
In depth knowledge and practical experience of current and emerging technologies.
Conversant in best practice appropriate to network design.
Understanding of hardware and software performance and scaling limitations.
Scripting skills advantageous.
Ability to balance the "big picture" and short-term implications of individual decisions.
Experience
Extensive experience in a design environment gained in an ISP, Telco or large enterprise environment.
A minimum of 10 years in the Network or Security Infrastructure field, focusing on design and operations.
Experience with Networking and Security technologies with particular focus on the following vendors: Cisco, Fortinet, Checkpoint, F5, Aruba.
A strong understanding of IT operations and project engineering.
An ability to effectively develop, build and lead relationships at all levels of an organisation.
