The successful applicant will join a department of 15 Consultant Physicians who have various subspecialty interests in Respiratory, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Renal and Rheumatology.The successful candidate will take part in a 1:10 General Medicine on call rota with Registrar and House Officer support in addition to their specialty interest in nephrology clinical work.The Renal services in Taranaki are comprised of two Consultant Nephrologists (one is the vacant position) supported by a dedicated team of renal nurses. Our current dialysis unit opened in 2001 with 9 machines to manage our chronic stable in-centre patients. We manage acute patients with the support of a well provisioned ICU. In addition to in-centre HD, we support both Home dialysis and PD from the unit as well.The hospital, situated in the city of New Plymouth, is a progressive regional secondary referral centre for the province of Taranaki with a wide range of medical specialties, an Intensivist-managed ICU within a combined ICU/HDU/CCU and a well equipped Radiology Department providing interventional radiology, which includes digital radiology, CT guided biopsy MRI, CT and angiography.Taranaki has endoscopy services, video bronchoscopy facilities and a respiratory lab for spirometry and DLCO testing which is supported by a respiratory physiologist.
