The Nature Conservancy Aotearoa business unit has several projects that seek to implement NbS, including blue carbon and regenerative agriculture.The NbS Project Coordinator will manage small to large-scale complex projects across the Aotearoa New Zealand TNC work programme, focusing on various workstreams of the Aotearoa New Zealand Blue Carbon Programme. This is intended to be a full-time, fixed term (three year) position, based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Part-time options (minimum of 0.6 full-time equivalent) will also be considered.WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOUThe NbS Project Coordinator will provide comprehensive technical and managerial support across NbS workstreams, including helping develop project plans, budgets, and key technical and scientific documentation for implementing blue carbon and other NbS projects. They will assess project scope and objectives, ensuring all risks and dependencies are identified and addressed in the project plan to deliver successful results aligned with programme objectives.The NbS Project Coordinator will champion engagement with all programme partners and stakeholders, regularly undertake community, government, and iwi engagement, and contribute to community and capacity-building efforts related to NbS.RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPEMonitor and measure project progress, identify and address risks and dependencies, and take corrective action as needed.Communicate effectively with their line manager, NbS project leads, and all stakeholders concerning project status and information.Under minimal supervision, make independent decisions based on analysis, experience, and project context.Coordinate and work with internal and external teams and partners (including community groups, government agencies, and iwi) to achieve project objectives.Provide technical and managerial support for NbS projects, developing key technical and scientific documentation.Assess project scope and objectives, ensuring all technical considerations are addressed.Work within the scope of the programme's strategic goals.Work within a project budget and assist with scope and budget development for assigned projects.Negotiate and contract with vendors as necessary to complete project tasks (within established guidelines).Champion community and educational outreach efforts related to NbS.Ensure programme compliance with internal policies and external requirements.Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information.May undertake fieldwork in variable weather conditions and potentially remote locations.Travel occasionally, working long and flexible hours as needed.WHAT YOU'LL BRINGBachelor's degree in a scientific/environmental field and 5 years' experience or equivalent combination.2+ years of project management experience.2+ years of undertaking environmental fieldwork (including planning and H&S) and/or desk-top environmental assessments.2+ years working with local/central government policies and regulations.2+ years of technical data analysis and reporting.Experience in managing and tracking multiple projects.Experience using project management techniques and tools (e.g., Smartsheet).Experience writing funding proposals.Experience negotiating complex agreements.Experience communicating with the public in writing and verbally, including presenting/public speaking.Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mural, Canva and other design software.Experience in training and curriculum design.Supervisory experience.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSMulti-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences are appreciated, particularly an understanding of Te Reo Maori, Te ao Maori and Tikanga Maori.Experience working with carbon markets (voluntary and/or ETS).Experience working with government legislation (e.g., RMA).Proficiency in interpreting guidelines and manipulating, analysing, and interpreting scientific data in Excel and other statistical computing environments.Experience authoring and/or disseminating scientific research papers/technical reports.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Experience designing capacity-building programmes and/or prior teaching experience.WHAT WE BRINGTNC offers competitive and comprehensive benefits packages tailored to the individual countries where we work.
