Job Description Role Type: Permanent, full-timeLocation: Auckland or Chistchurch preferred.
We are open to considering other locations.Salary Band: $158,916 to $212,730 depending on skills and experience Korero mo te Turanga - About the RoleAs National Manager Establishments, your primary responsibility will be to lead the delivery of efficient, cost effective, and quality verifications services for the Establishments group within the Verification Services directorate of New Zealand Food Safety.This is a newly created role which will manage the Establishments group nationwide.
The Establishments group focusses on red meat processing and production facilities, and the National Manager Establishments is responsible for supporting strategy development & execution, resource & capability planning, and financial management.
You will strive to improve service delivery and performance across the group.The successful candidate will be leading a highly technical workforce, with nationally distributed teams delivering essential regulatory services.
The key accountabilities of this position include: Leading and managing the Establishments group of veterinary verifiers to deliver strategy, business plans, and agreed outcomes by setting clearly defined performance outcomes and creating an environment that enables and reinforces high performance at all levels across the organisation;Managing the on-going capability and capacity of the national establishment business including appropriate resource planning, effective performance management, and the overall development of the workforce;Contributing to the development of the Verification Services strategy and business plan and forming this into the national Establishment strategy and operational work programmes;Supporting the Director Verification Services as part of the VS leadership team and working to reach consensus on decisions, leading the Directorate with one voice and shared objectives, and encouraging teams to work as 'one VS' across the Directorate;Ensuring the establishment business remains under appropriate financial control, minimising risk of significant deficit or surplus, and anticipating potential risk and issues; Mou - About You To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced people leader with strong financial capability and operational management experience, and will be confident delivering regulatory or complex technical services to appropriate standards.
You will ideally have knowledge of the red meat sector in New Zealand, and may have a Veterinarian degree, but this is not mandatory.Specifically, your experience will include: Proven experience as a senior people leaderManagement skills including the development of business plans and budgets, prioritisation mechanisms and processes to meet business objectives.Demonstrated experience of strategic and business planning processesThe development and implementation of support systems within teams to manage administration, finances, personnel, planning, and other basic functionsThe ability to collaborate through partner organisations to deliver outcomes Importantly, you will have a proven ability to consult with and manage relationships with diverse stakeholders, and gain the support and participation of key individuals and groups.You will be an effective communicator with strong presentation and influencing skills, highly collaborative, and have an understanding of manging remote teams.

The National Manager Establishments leads the Establishments group which is a nationally distributed and highly technical workforce which focusses on meat processing and production facilities, and is made up of a number of Team Manager Establishment positions which each oversees a region of Veterinarians and plants/facilities.
