Moving And Handling Programme Lead

MercyAscot is part of the Healthcare Holdings Group of companies and we're New Zealand's largest private surgical facility with 22 theatres (and growing fast!) across 3 sites, including an ICU and an HDU. Our surgical specialties include: Colorectal/Gastro, Gynae, Urology, Neurology, Oncology, Plastics, ENT/ORL, Orthopaedic/Spinal, free flap Head & Neck, and Cardiothoracics. We are looking for a Moving and Handling Programme Lead to join our clinical education team to cover parental leave for a period of 8 months from Aug 2024. About the job: Reporting to our Clinical Practice Manager and working closely with both our Physiotherapy, and Health and Safety Managers, your key responsibility will be to develop, implement and maintain our Moving and Handling programme, including writing competencies and providing moving & handing training and advice to staff and patients across all of our sites. This is a full time 0.8 FTE position based at Mercy Hospital in Epsom and whilst you'll work flexible office hours Mon - Fri, you may be required to work the odd Saturday if training courses are running. About You: You're a healthcare professional with current NZ registration, who works or has recently worked in a healthcare environment. You could be a physio, an OT, or similar, but  you are an experienced Moving and Handling trainer.  You have a qualification in adult education, and you're a member of the Moving and Handling Association of NZ, with a good understanding of the related legislation. You're also a solutions focused self-starter, who can work autonomously and build this role from the ground up.
