As the Head Chef at Mou Mou Kai Cafe, you will be responsible for creating a menu reflective of our environment - Te Urewera, and delivering dining experiences that invoke warmth, friendliness, and connection, at our cafe in Taneatua, Bay of Plenty. In this full-time role, you will oversee all culinary operations and ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction. What you'll be doing Plan and develop innovative, seasonal, inspired menus that showcase local and sustainable ingredients Ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards Collaborate with the front-of-house team to align the dining experience Monitor inventory, order supplies, and manage the cafe's food budget Foster a positive and collaborative work environment in the kitchen What we're looking for Minimum 3 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a senior culinary role Proven track record of leading a kitchen team and developing successful menus Excellent time management, organisation, and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality food Passion for using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients Excellent communication and interpersonal skills What we offer Opportunities for professional development and career advancement A collaborative, supportive, and inclusive work environment About us Mou Mou Kai Cafe is located within Te Kura Whare - Tuhoe Te Uru Taumatua; one of a few 'living buildings' in New Zealand.
