The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader with daily operations in the reading and reporting area.Duties may include, but are not limited to:Supervise the day-to-day operation of the department and report to the Team Leader on key aspects of the work to ensure production/reporting runs smoothly.Have excellent organizational and planning skills as well as strong attention to detail.Coach and build drive in the team towards achieving daily targets by managing daily operations efficiently.Carry out confirmation testing, reading, entering and validation of results.Taking care of exceptional samples, guiding the team and providing technical advice as required. Ability to analyse, define and effectively communicate any difficult and complex issues to the relevant personnel.Serve as an operational point of contact for clients regarding all services performed in the lab when required.Provide training to technicians.Ensuring the quality of work produced in your area conforms. Perform duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.Maintaining a safe and clean working environment.Participate in ILCP programmes.Other tasks as directed by the Team Leader or Managers.We are seeking candidates with up-to-date experience of commercial microbiology laboratories.QualificationsThe ideal candidate:Minimum BSc or equivalent required, or 5+ years in a commercial laboratory.Should be able to work as 2IC to the Team Leader.Have testing lab experience in an ISO 17025 accredited microbiology laboratory, and is familiar with ISO 17025 requirements.A strong work ethic in this production environment.Interested in pursuing leadership opportunities.Have a good understanding about effectively meeting targets/deadlines.Efficient time management skills.Be a clear, concise communicator.Professional with a positive attitude.Experience as a Key Technical Personnel, and/or with method validation is an added advantage.Additional InformationThis opportunity is only open to candidates who are eligible to work in New Zealand, and already have work rights or an appropriate working visa.
