Te Kaunihera-a-rohe o Ngamotu - New Plymouth District Council is a local government organisation located in the heart of New Plymouth. Our vision is to be the Sustainable Lifestyle Capital, and our district boasts a spectacular natural beauty from Taranaki Maunga to the moana. In 2021, we were awarded the most liveable city (for a population between 75,000 and 150,000) by the International Awards for Liveable Communities. Te aheinga - The opportunity
Are you ready to make a meaningful impact on our community's water management? New Plymouth District Council is seeking a dedicated Meter Installer to join our Project Management Office on a fixed-term basis until October 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Universal Water Metering Project by installing water meters and collecting essential data to support our long-term sustainability goals.
Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation
Install new Automated Meter Reading (AMR) water meters at locations prepared by UWM Construction Contractor
Accurately record details of newly installed meters linked to correct property address/ID
Assist UWM Project Team and Reticulation Team in setting up meter reading systems and processes
Full Class 1 driver's licence
Computer literate and able to maintain electronic records
Great interpersonal and communication skills
A willingness to learn with a positive team player attitude
Prior related site experience preferred as a water technician or in infrastructure construction
