Mental Health Services for Older People Crisis Clinician Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust We are looking for highly dedicated clinicians to join our new Mental Health Service for Older Persons Intensive Home Treatment and Crisis Team. Our team provides a comprehensive specialist mental health service to patients, families, carers and clinicians in the community covering the area of Durham and Darlington.

Main duties of the job The role will include supporting patients after discharge from acute hospitals, acute mental health hospitals, and intermediate care beds. You will also support patients and carers in their own homes and provide telephone support for those who are in crisis.

Job responsibilities The team is developing and expanding with the potential of becoming a 24hr service covering 365 days a year. As such, you will be expected to work a shift pattern which has the potential to include night shifts. At present, the team works across 7 days. We are looking for full-time and part-time staff; therefore, candidates should state their preferred working arrangements in the application form.

This is a challenging but rewarding role, offering an exciting opportunity to those who have a professional registration with the NMC or HCPC. You will need to have strong assessment and therapeutic skills to fulfill this role. You will require the ability to work autonomously while still contributing to the team as a whole. Previous experience of working with older people who are suffering from a range of mental health conditions is essential. The role requires working with many other organisations and partners to ensure that the patient receives appropriate care. Therefore, the successful candidates must be good at communicating and using an electronic patient record. We offer excellent staff support through clinical supervision and teamwork.

You will have a positive approach to work, with a demonstrable background of providing high-quality care and evidence of commitment to professional development. You will have experience and willingness to teach and educate others as well as a commitment to service development. You will be responsible for the leadership of junior staff and healthcare assistants to produce the best possible outcomes for older people in the community and healthcare settings.

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Person Specification Qualification Current professional registration with an approved professional body. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development. For registered nurses: MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education. Must be achieved within agreed timescale. Recognised sign-off mentor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within agreed timescale. Clinical Supervisor Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent) Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area Skills Provide leadership and monitor, co-ordinate and prioritise the activities of a team. Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team. Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake lead professional and/or care co-ordinator responsibilities. Experience Significant experience working with people with mental ill health. Working collaboratively with service users, their families and carers. Provide clinical supervision to individuals or groups in a professional setting. Leadership or management experience.
