Mental Health Care Assistant - Te Aka Unit - Te Whatu Ora Waitemata Permanent, Full-time position (1 FTE) Mason Clinic, Pt Chevalier Fully rostered shifts The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Services (ARFPS), also known as the Mason Clinic, is the largest Forensic Mental Health Service in New Zealand.
The Mason Clinic is in a period of growth and expansion. With over 120 inpatient beds it is the largest provider of mental health inpatient services on one site in the country.
This position will be based in our Kaupapa Maori Unit, Te Aka. Te Aka is a medium secure unit that is a mixed gender unit.
About the Role We are recruiting Mental Health Care Assistants to join our Te Aka team. In this role, you will assist the Registered Nursing staff to provide delegated nursing care which is safe, respectful and individualised.
You will be confident relating to, and dealing with people who can at times demonstrate difficult or challenging behaviours. Therefore, having good verbal communication skills, being calm under pressure and demonstrating resilience is essential.
We are interested in hearing from Mental Health Care Assistants, those who are keen and motivated to practice in a new subspecialty area, or those with existing forensic experience.
Training and support are key priorities in developing our workforce. While employed at the Mason Clinic you would be expected to work across all wards if needed.
About You Cultural Awareness and a commitment to biculturalism Understanding of interest in Te Reo Maori and Tikanga Maori Knowledge and experience in delivering care encompassing Maori health models Experience working with people with mental health issues Ability to work under directions and delegation of Registered Nurse Full driver's licence Are you an honest and trustworthy team player?
