MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTION SERVICE – COUNSELLING PRACTITIONER VACANCY – INVERCARGILL Nga Kete Matauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust (NKMP) is seeking an experienced Mental Health/Alcohol and Addictions Practitioner to work with whanau in our Invercargill office.
Mahana Southern Maori Mental Health and Addiction Service is a southern-wide service offering one-on-one counselling, group work, experiential learning, education and information, and wananga-based interventions.
In joining this Kaupapa Maori service, the desired applicants will have the following attributes and responsibilities:
Provide confidential counselling and tautoko to tangata whaiora who experience mild to moderate mental health and addiction issues.
Work with individuals, whanau, or groups in therapy that engages Maori modalities of wellbeing.
Work well with male tangata whaiora from Community Corrections.
Utilize effective communication skills.
Work autonomously and in a team.
Possess a comprehensive knowledge of drug treatment modalities.
Demonstrate highly skilled documentation and comprehensive assessments.
Cope under pressure.
Hold a clean current driver's licence.
Have a strong knowledge base of Maori and non-Maori networks within the Otago Region.
Understand Tikanga Maori, Te Reo, and what a Kaupapa Maori service is.
Possess appropriate qualifications in addictions and/or mental health.
Be DAPAANZ registered or similar registration boards (or a pathway to gaining registration).
Adhere to the DAPAANZ Code of Ethics.
