Medical Transcriptionist

Peke Waihanga provides prosthetic, orthotic, rehabilitation and peer support services across New Zealand. Our vision is 'independent and productive lives for the people we care for'. We are seeking a Medical Transcriptionist to type letters and referrals from dictated doctors' notes. This work may be done from your own home (Peke Waihanga will provide you with a laptop and foot pedal), or from one of our centres if you prefer. We anticipate this work will be between 4 -8 hours per week; variable depending on when doctors clinics are held. To be successful in this role you will need to be a fast and accurate typist with excellent English vocabulary, grammar skills, hearing and comprehension skills. You must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft with the ability to use templates and maintain a high standard in all documents you produce. Experience as a medical typiest is preferable, however we will also consider applicants with excellent typing skills and they ability to pick up new terminology. As Medical Transcriptionist you will: Provide efficient medical typist service for all Peke Waihanga centres as required, on an ad-hoc basis Type medical information from audio files into Peke Waihanga letter templates Maintain accuracy of entered data Provide typed notes to Peke Waihanga within 2 days of receiving the audio file Gain and maintain knowledge of relevant medical terms and acronyms Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of medical records
