We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician (MLPAT) or Trainee to join our Specimen Services team based in Rotorua. The position is full-time (80 hours per fortnight), Monday to Friday with participation in the weekend roster.
Specimen Services ensure the prompt, efficient processing, and smooth transition of specimens from arrival in the laboratory to the respective departments. Tasks include barcoding, receipting, and preparing specimens coming into the laboratory, and inputting patients' data and test results into computers.
The ideal candidate for this role will hold a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician qualification with experience within a Specimen Services team. You will be a team player with good communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to show initiative. You are able to keep clear, accurate records. Minimum typing speed of 55 words per minute is required.
Previous medical laboratory experience is an advantage but is not a prerequisite. We are also interested in hearing from candidates who are passionate about science and want to further their careers in one of our cutting-edge laboratories. We commit to providing you with a full training plan and support to develop technical competencies that will enable you to sit an exam through the NZIMLS and register as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician with the NZ Medical Sciences Council.
