Medical Secretary - Ophthalmology 32 hours Southern Eye Specialists – Christchurch, South Island
Southern Eye Specialists is a leading provider of ophthalmic care and ophthalmic surgery. We have a well-equipped and modern facility located in central Christchurch.
We have an exciting part-time role (32 hours per week) for a Medical Secretary available. We are looking to find the next member of our dynamic team, ready to deliver exceptional service to both patients and our world-class Ophthalmologists in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment.
We are seeking someone who is:
A quick learner; previous medical secretary experience would be an advantage
Confident with a friendly and professional manner
Great with people and can build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
Conscientious and organised with excellent attention to detail
Capable of managing multiple priorities with a strong sense of urgency
Team-focused and able to step in and help out wherever needed
Available to work Monday to Friday, hours as below:
WEEK 1 Monday 0800-1630
Wednesday 1030-1900
Thursday 0830-1700
Friday 1030-1900

WEEK 2 Monday 1030-1900
Wednesday 0800-1630
Thursday 0830-1700
Friday 0800-1630

WEEK 3 Monday 0800-1630
Wednesday 0800-1630
Thursday 0830-1700
Friday 1030-1900

WEEK 4 Monday 1030-1900
Wednesday 0800-1630
Thursday 0830-1700
Friday 0800-1630

What a normal day looks like:
Greeting and checking in patients, always providing high-quality customer service
Managing appointment bookings in person, online, and over the phone
Invoicing payments, handling cash and Eftpos payments, processing medical insurance and ACC claims, and following up debtors
Organising operating theatre lists and confirming these with theatre
Maintaining and updating patient records ensuring information is accurate and complete
