We are currently looking for Medical Oncologists to join our team, with a number of full and part time positions available. As a physician, we value experience in teaching and research.We are keen to interview oncologists with interests and experience in the use of hormone, molecular targeted therapy and chemotherapy for the systemic treatment of people with cancer.Kei hea koe e tu ai| Where will you be based?We are a great team! You will be welcomed as a valued member of the Medical Oncology department within Te Puriri o Te Ora, the Regional Cancer and Blood Service. Our unit runs a tumour-streamed model of care with 24 full-time equivalent medical oncologists, as well as research fellows, advanced training registrars and rotating medical registrars. We are the largest medical oncology unit in Aotearoa.The Medical Oncology department is highly collaborative and provides multi-disciplinary care with colleagues from radiation oncology, haematology and palliative care services, as well as weekly tumour boards with sub-specialised surgical oncologists, physicians, radiologists and pathologists, all on the same site of Auckland City Hospital.He whare wananga e tipu haere ana| A growing academic cancer centreWe love learning and improvement! Te Puriri o Te Ora shares a site with the Medical School at Waipapa Taumata Rau (University of Auckland).Te Puriri o Te Ora collaborates with the University of Auckland Centre for Cancer Research Te Aka Matauranga Matepukupuku (Te Aka) to facilitate excellence in research and teaching. Te Aka comprises over 300 cancer multidisciplinary researchers across the university and hospital.There are several collaborative research platforms and initiatives shared across Te Puriri o Te Ora at Auckland City Hospital and Te Aka at the University. These include an early phase trial unit (Auckland Clinical Trials Centre), a late phase trial unit (Cancer and Blood Research), a biobank (Te Ira Kawai), a genomic sequencing platform (Grafton Clinical Genomics), a Molecular Tumour Board (run through the Precision Medicine Initiative) and a national clinical trial design and coordination centre for investigator-initiated and collaborative group trials (Cancer Trials New Zealand). Over 200 cancer scientists work at Waipapa Taumata Rau and many of our Te Puriri o Te Ora team are involved in clinical and translational research programs.We value your aspirations!
