Taumarunui Hospital Laboratory
Permanent part time – 32 hours per week
Hours will mostly be Monday-Friday with participation in a weekend roster and out of hours on call roster once fully trained
About the Role
The role of a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician is to provide diagnostic testing of medical specimens. As Taumarunui is a small multi-discipline laboratory, staff are trained to cover all areas including specimen registration, pre-analytical preparation, and diagnostic testing and reporting.
About the Service
Taumarunui Hospital Laboratory is an integral part of the Taumarunui community. The laboratory has a team of 8 staff including 4 scientists. The laboratory has up to date technology, and mostly performs testing of Haematology and Biochemistry samples for hospital and community patients. A smaller amount of Microbiology is performed on site. The laboratory also issues blood products, and oversees a range of Point of Care testing for the clinical areas of the hospital.
About you
Skills and experience you will need to be considered for the role:
Registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Sciences Council.
Experience working in a multidiscipline medical laboratory will be advantageous.
Ability to work independently as well as part of the team.
