About the Role We have a part time (32 hours per week) role available within the Molecular Biology Department at Waikato Hospital. This is a busy and diverse diagnostic lab that provides testing both locally and to the Te Manawa Taki region.
Key Responsibilities: Process and test samples received in the laboratoryCommunicate results to Laboratory staff and CliniciansMaintain inventory and equipmentParticipate in the shift roster including weekend workAbout the Service The Molecular Biology Laboratory at Waikato Hospital is a new and modern lab that was opened in July of 2024. We offer a range of testing across a number of platforms, including random access automated testing, right through to more conventional real time PCR assays. Our scientists and technicians work across all the areas and would be fully trained in the majority of assays.
About You Skills and experience you will need to be considered for the role: Ability to work well within a team environment, but also independentlyExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsBring a high standard of quality and attention to detail throughout work processesRegistration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand as a Medical Laboratory Scientist and a current Annual Practicing CertificatePrevious experience in Molecular Biology will be advantageousWorking for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
