Wellington Awanui laboratory is an IANZ-accredited, modern diagnostic laboratory that provides high-quality pathology services to the community, health care professionals, and their patients. Wellington Awanui laboratory is owned by APHG, a healthcare company committed to providing facilities and services that deliver exceptional care to its clients, servicing a population of around 550,000. The laboratory is based at the Wellington Hospital campus in Newtown Wellington.
About the Role | Mo te turanga:
Our Haematology department at Wellington Hospital is a high-throughput 24/7 laboratory servicing the needs of the greater Wellington region. We perform a wide repertoire of routine and specialist diagnostic tests, supporting the regional Haematology and Oncology Service and several peripheral hospital-based laboratories. We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician/ Trainee to join our team.
This is a part-time permanent role (56 hours per fortnight), working on rostered shifts from Monday to Sunday.
To succeed in this role you will need:
The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines
A team focus with initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Excellent attention to detail, with good record-keeping skills
The ability to work independently, while in a supported role
A degree in Biomedical Science, and be eligible to be registered as a Technician with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
Eligible to work in New Zealand.
