Media & Digital Communications Advisor | Kaitohu Matua Pae Tuku Korero Permanent position Wellington or Auckland based Salary Range $81,003 – $95,298 Korero mo te turanga | About the role
We are seeking an exceptional and creative communications professional to join the Commission on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate for this role will have a strategic mind, a creative eye, political nous, and a demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and human rights.
The Media & Digital Communications Advisor will develop and implement creative and influential digital communications strategies, and support Commissioners, the Commission's senior leadership and staff to help influence positive changes to human rights and Te Tiriti outcomes in Aotearoa New Zealand.

To succeed in this role, you'll need to be agile in handling competing demands, skilled with multi-media production, words and complex ideas, visually aware, adept at social media, content management and relationship-building, technically proficient, and knowledgeable about the New Zealand media landscape, including its nuances, its people and its priorities.
Knowledge of and commitment to human rights, indigenous rights and Te Tiriti o Waitangi A relevant tertiary qualification(s) in media, communications, social marketing, design, or multi-media production is highly desirable and/or equivalent experience Proven ability to influence and effect change through advocacy, digital strategy development, planning, campaigning and public engagement Excellent social media and CMS management Ability to develop digital media materials including graphic design assets, video, and photography Strong written, oral and presentation communication skills Advanced collaborative and agile partnering, stakeholder management skills Experience developing and executing public awareness campaigns through a variety of channels (i.e. social media / online / print / broadcast) Nga whaipainga o te mahi keite Kahui Tika Tangata | Benefits of working at the Human Rights Commission

The Engagement Ropu is focused on public-facing engagement and ensuring impact on our strategic pieces of work to realise changes in people's lives, changes in attitudes and changes in policy, legislation or practice. The work of the ropu is aligned to the Commission's strategic plan and is multifaceted including advocacy, stakeholder engagement, public consultation, research and communications.
The Advisory Support team provides expert support for our Commissioners when they're advancing strategic aims, publicly appearing on issues and engaging with the community. The Research and Engagement team supports the production of commission research, consultation with the public and strategic education and/or advocacy. The Communications and Media team support the Commission's external communication work and ensure that our priority work is strategically promoted to reach appropriate audiences and achieve progress for our goals.
