Mechanical TechnicianCome and join this dedicated transport company to overhaul, test, repair and maintain various rail components including, but not limited to HVAC systems, braking systems, pneumatic components, and compressor units. Troubleshoot and conduct diagnostics to assess the condition of the unit they are servicing and accurately and promptly report on problems and possible solutions. Assist the engineering department with works as required and directed.Technical RequirementsHands-on practical involvement in the day-to-day workshop production.Take all reasonable steps to ensure that assigned tasks are free of faulty workmanship, assuring quality in the finished product.Ensure repairs are carried out using the appropriate control guidelines to ensure that rework jobs do not occur. This involves checking sheets, quality control procedures, and guidelines for reusable parts.Use diagnostic tools to determine repair plans and test units accordingly.Determine reusability of all disassembled parts. Dispose or quarantine mandatory replacement/damaged parts in accordance with company guidelines.Prepare and clean components for maintenance work.Ensure all assigned tasks are completed within required timeframes.Ensure all paperwork is presented and signed back to the office in a clean and presentable standard.Conduct internal training as required.Identify possible areas of wastage and work towards continuous improvement.Perform quality assurance tasks as directed by the Operations Manager.Keep the workshop clean, tidy, and well organized.Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.Experience & QualificationsEssentialTrade qualification as Mechanical fitter or similar.Min. 5 years' trade experience within heavy industry.Current drivers' licence.Proven problem-solving skills.Highly organised and self-motivated.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, as well as in a team.Professionalism in dealing with customers at site.DesirableComputer literate is highly desirable.Forklift license is highly desirable.Apply now or call 03 374 8242 for more information.
