About Us :
Beattie Air Conditioning has been a leading provider of heating, cooling, and ventilation solutions in Christchurch and Canterbury for over 30 years. We are known for delivering high-quality, innovative systems and are now looking for a skilled and motivated Estimator to join our dynamic team.
Role Overview :
We are seeking an experienced Estimator who is detail-oriented, driven, and has a strong understanding of the commercial HVAC industry. This role is critical in ensuring that project pricing and financial forecasts are accurate from tendering through to project completion. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to provide accurate cost estimates and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities :
Pre-Contract Award :
Manage inquiries, allocate cost query (CQ) numbers for pricing, budgeting, and design purposes.
Attend tender meetings, providing thorough assessments and documentation reviews.
Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive and compliant pricing.
Accurately measure and quantify materials for tender pricing.
Prepare and submit tender proposals with timely follow-up actions.
Maintain and update commercial databases, budget sheets, and price lists.
Post-Contract Award :
Oversee project acceptance and ensure all documentation is complete.
Prepare detailed budgets and initiate jobs in our management software (Infusion).
Collaborate with Contract Managers and Project Managers to resolve pricing queries and manage variations.
Conduct site visits to gather critical data for estimating smaller commercial jobs.
General :
Negotiate with clients and subcontractors to maintain budgets.
Assist the General Manager with reporting on project performance and financial insights.
Continuously refine estimating processes for greater accuracy and efficiency.
What We're Looking For :
A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator, preferably in the HVAC or construction industries.
Strong analytical and numerical skills with experience in cost estimation and budgeting.
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Proficiency in financial and project management software (experience with Infusion is advantageous).
Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
A proactive problem-solving attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
