Add expected salary to your profile for insights.As part of the talented Mechanical Engineering team, you will lead the digital systems mechanical engineering team to deliver new products and support existing products. The team is predominantly located in Auckland with smaller groups in Ensenada and Italy.The role is accountable for mechanical parts designed, developed, and specified at Navico Group digital systems including excellence in delivery and continuous improvement.As a leader you will ensure goals are clear, delivery status is visible, risks are managed and escalated as necessary. You will help create a positive culture and work environment. You will have an enthusiasm for innovation and building excellent products for our customers.At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver.Essential Functions:New product developments that are delivered on time, on budget and on spec.Mechanical architecture design to support thermal management, DFM and DFA.Provide timely support to Navico and ODM factories for existing products.Maintain an effective development framework and identify and implement process improvements. This relates to both internal and outsourced projects.Ensure the team has all required tools (CAD, PDM, Analysis, Planning, Verification Equipment).Keep abreast of supplier capabilities & new industry trends.Identify and track KPI's to help drive improvements in effectiveness.Develop design strategies and technology roadmaps to support the product roadmaps for the different product categories.Develop design platforms to ensure high level of part reuse. Design and manufacturing with plastic and metal both tooled and machine.Ensure a high level of collaboration with product management, sourcing, manufacturing, and other R&D functions.Identify cost improvements and drive a DTC culture.Maintain intellectual property related to mechanical design.Leadership:Leadership and management of the digital systems mechanical team.Build high-performing teams through development of talent, and management of succession pipeline and recruitment of high performing individuals.Coach, mentor and develop direct reports.Evaluate performance, provide input, guidance, and corrective actions as necessary.Set team and individual OKR's and conduct performance reviews.Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.Required Qualifications:8+ years of product design experience.Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or Master's degree.Strong knowledge of digital tools (CAD, PDM, Analysis).Substantial experience with product testing and environmental verification.Large size display integration in harsh environment (industrial / marine / auto).Thermal design and management of high end compute, high resolution large displays in a harsh environment.Exceptional design and technical skills.Preferred Qualifications:Prior leadership experience both with local and global teams.Previous experience in the Marine industry.Working Conditions:Hybrid working environment.There will be times when you are needed on marine vessels for testing and product demonstrations purposes.Why Brunswick:Whatever tomorrow brings, we'll be at the leading edge.
