Mechanical Fitter and Fitter Welder - 2 positions
J J Niven Engineering is a mechanical engineering company based in Palmerston North. We offer design, fabrication, machining, maintenance and industrial installation services to a local and national client base.
We have positions available for experienced engineers in our fabrication and maintenance departments. These are permanent full-time positions with overtime as required.
Your work will consist of a diverse range of heavy fabrication projects which will enhance your skills and maintain your interest in the trade. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in both the workshop and on site at times if you like to get out and about.
Requirements for the role:
Be enthusiastic, physically fit and demonstrate high levels of competency in both heavy fabrication and general engineering. Have the ability to fabricate from drawings to a high standard including fit-up and layout skills Have experience welding to AS/NZS 2980. Have the ability to pay attention to detail and multitask effectively Communicate effectively with other staff and management. Be flexible / adaptable and be available to work overtime when required Relevant industry experience.

You will be working in a high performing team and will have the ability to travel for work for short durations.
Requirements for the role:
Have proven experience as a fitter. Industry experience. An understanding of mechanical systems, technical drawings & assembly procedures Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve mechanical issues effectively Have a can-do attitude and work with initiative Attention to detail and a commitment to maintain a high level of health and safety Ideally you will have the desire to run your own jobs and lead a small team A relevant trade certificate is a bonus but not a prerequisite.Remuneration We offer remuneration that is competitive and commensurate with experience.
