Gecko International Limited is looking for a Full time Mechanical Engineer in Auckland. This is a full-time position with guaranteed 40 hours per week.
Salary range: $79,000.00 - $89,000.00, Reporting to the CEO.
Position Overview:We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer with a specialisation in Building Services (residential air quality, heating load calculation, cooling and ventilation systems). The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, assessing, and optimizing environmental systems in residential settings to ensure healthy, comfortable, and energy-efficient indoor environments. This position requires a deep understanding of HVAC systems, indoor air quality standards, and energy-efficiency buildings.
Key Responsibilities:? Design and Development:o Design and develop HVAC systems tailored to residential environments, ensuring optimal performance in heating, cooling, and ventilation.o Implement air quality control measures, including filtration, humidity regulation, and pollutant reduction, to meet or exceed industry standards.o Integrate energy-efficient solutions into residential HVAC systems to minimize environmental impact and reduce energy costs for homeowners.
? System Evaluation and Optimization:o Conduct site assessments to evaluate existing residential HVAC systems and air quality, identifying areas for improvement or upgrade.o Analyse environmental data, including temperature, humidity, and pollutant levels, to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety standards.o Recommend and implement system upgrades or modifications to enhance performance and air quality.
? Compliance and Standards:o Ensure all designs and installations comply with local and national regulations, including NZS standards, building codes, and environmental guidelines.o Stay up-to-date with industry developments and changes in environmental legislation that may impact residential HVAC and air quality systems.
? Project Management:o Lead and manage residential HVAC projects from conception through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.o Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems into residential designs.o Prepare detailed reports and documentation, including technical specifications, cost estimates, and project timelines.
? Customer Interaction and Support:o Work closely with homeowners, builders, and developers to understand their needs and provide expert advice on HVAC and air quality solutions.o Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for residential HVAC systems, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of issues.
o Educate clients on the importance of indoor air quality and energy efficiency, offering guidance on best practices and maintenance.
? Research and Innovation:o Conduct research on emerging technologies and materials in the HVAC industry, exploring innovative solutions to improve residential air quality and energy efficiency.o Develop and test new methodologies for evaluating and enhancing indoor air quality in residential settings.
Qualifications:
? Education:o Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., DGNB, LEED) is preferred. A specialisation in Building Services is preferred.
? Experience:o Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in building services engineering, or mechanical/environmental engineering with a focus on residential HVAC systems and indoor air quality.o Proven track record of designing, implementing, and optimizing residential heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
? Technical Skills:o Strong knowledge of HVAC design, indoor air quality standards, and environmental regulations.o Proficiency in using HVAC design software incl. CAD.o Experience with energy modelling software, Building Information Modelling (BIM), building simulation software and sustainability assessment tools is a plus.
? Soft Skills:o Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.o Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.o Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
