Engender is a pioneering startup revolutionizing the dairy industry with a groundbreaking method of gender selection at the sperm stage. We're at a pivotal point, transitioning from academic research to commercialization, and we're seeking a passionate Mechanical Engineer to join our team! In this role, you'll be vital to advancing the future of cell sorting machines. Leveraging your expertise in mechanical design and CNC machining to develop and optimize critical components for our innovative technology.
Here's what you'll do:

Collaborate with a team of engineers and scientists to design and develop mechanical systems for our cell sorting machines.
Translate engineering concepts into designs using CAD software (Fusion 360 preferred).
Utilise machining experience to assist in creating prototypes and functional components for testing and optimization.
Analyse and troubleshoot mechanical issues, ensuring smooth operation and high performance of the machines.
Participate in the selection and procurement of appropriate materials and equipment.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of designs, processes, and testing results.
Adhere to all safety regulations and promote a safe work environment.
Utilise process optimization methods to improve manufacturing efficiency, repeatability, and reliability.

Requirements
We're looking for someone who:

Holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
Possesses 6+ years of experience in a product design and manufacturing environment.
Ability to operate safely in a workshop environment with manual and CNC machines.
Demonstrates a strong understanding of mechanical principles, including statics, dynamics, and materials science.
Thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys contributing to the development of innovative products and technologies.
Possesses excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a cross-functional team.
Has experience with 3D modelling software and is proficient in creating detailed technical specifications.
Is a critical thinker with a problem-solving mindset and a strong attention to detail.
Has experience working under a quality management system (QMS).
Has experience implementing or following industry-standard product development processes e.g. FMEA, 6 sigma etc.

Bonus points if you have:

Is familiar with automation and control systems.
Has experience working with microfluidic systems or similar precision equipment.
Experience in Verification and Validation test planning for mechanical components.
Experience working in a regulated environment e.g medical devices, aeronautical engineering.
