Engender is a pioneering startup revolutionizing the dairy industry with a groundbreaking method of gender selection at the sperm stage. We're at a pivotal point, transitioning from academic research to commercialization, and we're seeking a passionate Mechanical Engineer to join our team!In this role, you'll be vital to advancing the future of cell sorting machines. Leveraging your expertise in mechanical design and CNC machining to develop and optimize critical components for our innovative technology.Here's what you'll do:Collaborate with a team of engineers and scientists to design and develop mechanical systems for our cell sorting machinesTranslate engineering concepts into designs using CAD software (Fusion 360 preferred)Utilise machining experience to assist in creating prototypes and functional components for testing and optimizationAnalyse and troubleshoot mechanical issues, ensuring smooth operation and high performance of the machinesParticipate in the selection and procurement of appropriate materials and equipmentMaintain accurate and detailed documentation of designs, processes, and testing resultsAdhere to all safety regulations and promote a safe work environmentUtilise process optimization methods to improve manufacturing efficiency, repeatability and reliability. RequirementsWe're looking for someone who:Holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related fieldPossesses 6+ years of experience in a product design and manufacturing environmentAbility to operate safely in a workshop environment with manual and CNC machines. Demonstrates a strong understanding of mechanical principles, including statics, dynamics, and materials scienceThrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys contributing to the development of innovative products and technologiesPossesses excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a cross-functional teamHas experience with 3D modelling software and is proficient in creating detailed technical specificationsIs a critical thinker with a problem-solving mindset and a strong attention to detailHas experience working under a quality management system (QMS)Has experience implementing or following industry-standard product development processes e.g. FMEA, 6 sigma etcBonus points if you have:Is familiar with automation and control systemsHas experience working with microfluidic systems or similar precision equipmentExperience in Verification and Validation test planning for mechanical componentsExperience working in a regulated environment e.g medical devices, aeronautical engineeringBenefitsThe opportunity to be at the forefront of a revolutionary technology in the dairy industryA collaborative and dynamic work environment with a passionate teamCompetitive salary Health Benefits The chance to make a real impact on the future of animal agriculture
