Your Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Location: Christchurch, NZOur Department: Geospatial (part of Trimble Field Systems)Are you excited about a role where you can design the mechanical aspects for new handheld hardware products, working as part of an international design team?What You Will DoAs a Mechanical Engineer with Trimble Geospatial, you will bring specific embedded system mechanical design perspective to the team and contribute strongly to hardware product design and manufacturing. Working within an international team, you will focus on implementing plastic housings and accessories for rugged field products, from ideation through to production.You will support product development, testing, and manufacturing, deal with MIL-standard requirements for rugged devices, and understand ergonomics and usability.This will involve:Contribute and collaborate as part of a global design teamConceptualize mechanical designs to meet marketing requirementsTransform concepts into 3D modelsSupport existing productsCreate documentation - assembly drawings and procedures, component drawingsPerform fatigue and vibration analysis, FEA, bolt joint analysisCreate design validation test plans and conduct testing on and off-siteWork with suppliers and contract manufacturersWhat skills & experience you should bringAs well as possessing excellent attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication, a strong commitment to quality, persistence, and inquisitiveness, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as a proven team player, you should be able to bring the following:Bachelor's degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in mechanical engineeringDemonstrable professional experience as a mechanical engineer relevant to your levelExperience with injection moulded plastics, electronics enclosures, design to Mil StdFamiliarity with developing products from concept through to productionCAD experience with Creo (preferred)Commitment to designing & building in QualityAbility to review & understand MRD / PRD requirements & document designPlease Note: Only applicants legally entitled to work in New Zealand will be considered.
