Are you excited about a role where you can design the mechanical aspects for new handheld hardware products, working as part of an international design team?
What You Will Do
As a Mechanical Engineer with Trimble Geospatial, you will bring specific embedded system mechanical design perspective to the team and contribute strongly to hardware product design and manufacturing. Working within an international team, you will focus on implementing plastic housings and accessories for rugged field products, from ideation through to production.
You will support product development, testing, and manufacturing, deal with MIL-standard requirements for rugged devices, and understand ergonomics and usability.
This will involve:
Contribute and collaborate as part of a global design team
Conceptualize mechanical designs to meet marketing requirements
Transform concepts into 3D models
Support existing products
Create documentation - assembly drawings and procedures, component drawings.
Perform fatigue and vibration analysis, FEA, bolt joint analysis
Create design validation test plans and conduct testing on and off-site
Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
What skills & experience you should bring
As well as possessing excellent attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication, a strong commitment to quality, persistence, and inquisitiveness, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as a proven team player, you should be able to bring the following:
Bachelor's degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering
Demonstrable professional experience as a mechanical engineer relevant to your level
Have experience with injection moulded plastics, electronics enclosures, design to Mil Std
Familiarity with developing products from concept through to production
CAD experience with Creo (preferred)
Commitment to designing & building in Quality
Be able to review & understand MRD / PRD requirements & in turn document design.
