BUILDING ELECTRON AT ROCKET LAB: Rocket Lab's Electron team is responsible for building, testing, and launching our Electron rocket across our launch sites and test facilities in the United States and New Zealand. Electron is one of the world's most frequently-launched rockets, and our team behind its success are diligent, move fast, and have each others' back to deliver a reliable rocket to the launch pad time and time again. WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO: An Electron Mechanical Draftsperson at Rocket Lab is responsible for upkeep, development and realization of Electron vehicle designs and drawings in the NX CAD software based on input from the Electron Engineering team. A mechanical draftsperson has the scope to create, modify and improve CAD models and technical drawings including drawing notes, GD&T and other critical parameters under direction of the Electron engineering teams to support the development and manufacturability of the Electron launch vehicle.
Responsibilities of the role include:
Communication of the design for manufacturing purposes including materials, GD&T and unique design specifications by using drawings and appropriately referenced information/standardsAdhering to company drafting standards and continuously delivering a right first-time productTranslating feedback from engineers and technicians into improved technical drawings and submitting them to approval workflows.YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: NX (or similar such as Solidworks) experience of at least 3 years is essentialRelevant engineering degreeGood understanding of GD&TA structured and organised approachAble to follow SOP's.Works well under pressureAttention to detail.High standard of presentation and accuracy of work.Practical mindset, you must have a personal interest in making things.THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: A knowledge of the aerospace industry an advantage but not essential.This is a junior position within the company, ideal for new graduates or individuals with 1-3 years of experience in a relevant role and/or industry.
