APPLY NOW Tradestaff have Automotive Mechanic jobs available across Canterbury We are looking for Automotive Mechanics with background knowledge and experience (but are not limited to) with the following:maintains, tests and repairs petrol engines and the mechanical parts of lightweight motor vehicles such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes.detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and partsdismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking partsrepairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as neededperforming scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulationsreassembling engines and parts after being repairedtesting and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performancediagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computersmay inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or detail work required to achieve roadworthinessmay respond to vehicle breakdown service calls Ideally, you will be or have:Minimum 3+ years' experienceTrade qualifications preferred however scope and length of mechanical experience may substitute for the formal qualificationYour own toolsOwn reliable transportAt least 2 work references100% commitment to Health & SafetyAble to pass a pre-employment drug testClass 1 preferred but not essential
