This is a high trust role as the customer base varies from the Chief Executive and Mayor of the city to the daily operations team.As part of this close-knit team, you'll be tasked with:Carrying out mechanical repairs and maintenance on a wide variety of council vehicles and plantConducting inspections and evaluations of vehicles and machinery or parts to identify issuesProviding advice on the correct maintenance and preventive measures to vehicle or machine usersCarrying out steel fabrication and welding as required to modify or repair vehicles and assetsPerforming minor steel fabrication work to assist other council groups in maintaining their assetsThis is a fixed term role until 4 April 2025.About youThis role offers a diverse range of daily activities and will keep you on your toes. Your sense of humour and ability to relate well to people means you'll fit right in.You'll need to show us that you:Are honest, hard-working, and intuitive, and are always looking to help improve processes within the teamHold a trade certificate as an automotive technicianHold and maintain a current vehicle inspectors' certificate of appointmentHave good computer competencyHold a minimum of a class 2 driver's licenseHave extensive experience working on heavy diesel, gasoline, and electric/hybrid powered assetsHave extensive experience in fabricating and welding mild steel, aluminium, and stainless steelHave a strong focus on Health and SafetyAre customer oriented, and a team playerIt would be fabulous if you have experience working across a variety of equipment such as tractors, trucks, light vehicles, small plant assets like mowers, weed eaters, and chainsaws.What you need to do nowCome and join our hardworking Workshop team and be part of our welcoming and engaging environment.
