Role: Volunteer Meals on Wheels Driver (Weekdays).
Purpose: Make a meaningful impact in Hamilton City by delivering hot, healthy meals to elderly, ill, and vulnerable individuals, along with a warm smile and a friendly chat to brighten their day.
Responsibilities:
Pick up meals from Waikato Hospital using your own vehicle.
Deliver meals to recipients, offering a brief, friendly chat at the door.
Enjoy the satisfaction of making a difference in your community.
Time Commitment:
Most drivers volunteer once a week or every two weeks, with flexible shifts.
Start times between 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM.
Requirements:
A friendly, approachable personality.
Access to your own car and a valid driver's license.
Training & Support:
Comprehensive training provided to prepare you for the role.
Ongoing support from Red Cross staff and volunteers.
Onboarding Process:
Typically takes 2–6 weeks, depending on your availability and that of the local coordinator.
Police vetting is required; response times can range from a few days to about a month.
Health & Safety:
You'll be briefed on our Health, Safety, and Wellbeing policies during training.
Adherence to these procedures is essential while volunteering.
