New Plymouth Girls' High School (NPGHS) is based in the beautiful Taranaki region. New Plymouth is a vibrant and contemporary city, known for its sunny climate, art galleries, stunning surf beaches, walkways, and parks.
NPGHS is looking for an inspiring and passionate mathematics teacher who can achieve excellent results and spark an enthusiasm for mathematics. The successful applicant will join a supportive, collegial, and well-resourced Mathematics Department. Applicants should be well-versed in the NZ Curriculum and ideally have some experience of teaching NCEA Levels 1-3. Confidence and ability to teach Statistics at the senior level is necessary, and the ability to teach specific numeracy courses would be an advantage.
We welcome applications from both experienced and beginning teachers. New or graduate teachers may be eligible for additional payments under the Voluntary Bonding Schemes (eligibility criteria apply). Teachers can receive between $10,500–$17,500 (before tax) for staying for 3 to 5 years.
The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from (beginning 2025) $61,329 to $103,086 depending on applicants' qualifications and experience. Individuals' actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
Applicants must have current NZ teacher registration and be eligible to work in New Zealand.
As a school community, we provide a caring and inclusive teaching and learning environment, with a strong pastoral support system. The school has strong values, with Whakamana/Respect, Haepapa/Responsibility, and Whanaungatanga/Positive Relationships central to all we do.
