As well as this, you will undertake desk-based assessments of equipment. You will use the findings from these works to solve client problems and guide them towards better equipment management.As a Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for:Undertaking failure analysis, metallurgical assessment and materials testing for static and rotating equipment in the Pipeline, Process and Power industriesUndertaking metallurgical assessment and materials testing to support fitness-for-service assessmentsUndertaking metallurgical assessment and materials testing to support internal development initiativesPerforming basic fitness-for-service and remaining life assessments in accordance with industry standardsParticipating in occasional field and inspection support at industrial facilitiesTo be successful in this role you will:Have a Bachelor's degree in materials or mechanical/ materials engineering or related field of studyHave a major in metallurgy (or equivalent) and/or corrosion scienceHave a good base knowledge of metallic materials commonly used in industrial equipment, including general material properties, microstructures and common damage mechanismsHave good oral and written communication skillsBe a team player and display good communication skills, able to work soloHave relevant work experience in materials engineering and/or engineering consultancy, up to 5 yearsHave an evidence-based approach to problem solving and ability to be methodical in pursuing a solutionHave experience working in a metallurgical laboratory environment, including preparation of metallographic samples and metallurgical microscopyHave experience working with plant in the process, pipeline and power generation industriesHave ability to travel domestically and internationally for occasionally field work at client facilities and for business development activitiesWork in a way that works for youWe recognise that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too.
