A Matou Mahi | What we do
Whakarongorau supports a range of primary care clinics across Aotearoa, providing continuity of care for primarily high-needs rural communities and priority populations.
Mo tenei turanga | About the role
This is a contract role for clinics (Monday – Friday primarily).
As a Matanga Tapuhi (Nurse Practitioner) with Whakarongorau you will:
Provide care tailored to meet the unique needs of registered patients, collaborate with clinics to deliver optimal healthcare services, conduct remote telehealth consultations and understand local services and work to overcome access barriers.

Mou ake | About you
You will be a Matanga Tapuhi (Nurse Practitioner) with appropriate experience in Primary Care who is passionate about delivering high-quality care to rural, high-needs and our vulnerable communities, who face many challenges and barriers to access quality health care. You will be committed to providing compassionate, culturally responsive, patient-whanau centred care, and able to working collaboratively with the clinic team.
Ou aheitanga ou pukenga hoki - Skills and competence
Strong communication, relationship-building & Teamwork skills
Experience in remote work is preferable but not essential
Confidence in using various Patient Management Systems
Commitment to a recurrent roster
Integrate understanding and learnings of Te Ao Maori, Tikanga and Te Reo into approach and delivery of care
Nga Herenga Hangarau - Technology Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
A high-speed fibre internet connection & a high-spec computer capable of handling high-demand software
A multi-screen setup, headset, printer, and scanner
Etahi Atu Herenga - Other Needs
You will need a private space to work from that ensures the confidentiality of conversations, documents, and technology.
