The Matanga Taiwhenua | Rural Specialist is responsible for providing specialist expertise in the identification of land use and development opportunities for whenua Maori. The Matanga Taiwhenua | Rural Specialist will ensure whenua managed by Te Tumu Paeroa is compliant with current regulations, and that whenua and property asset projects are planned, monitored, and delivered to agreed standards.The main responsibilities of this role will include:Develop and maintain an expert and comprehensive understanding of trusts within your portfolio, including market rates for leases (primarily) within your region/s and across the nation.Provide expert advice clearly, efficiently, and proactively in relation to the trusts within your portfolio.Build and strengthen effective relationships with Government Agencies, Regional Councils, Local Councils, and key stakeholders.This role is of a delivery nature opposed to enforcement.Minimum 5 years experience in the farming/agribusiness sector.A relevant tertiary qualification is essential, or extensive equivalent experience.Proven experience covering farm compliance actions or management, including farm management.Good understanding of local and national legislation affecting the primary sector.Excellent ability to deliver farm compliance, working alongside lessees, Maori landowners, and regional councils.Good understanding of the balance between environmental outcomes and the effects on farm operations.Excellent skills in building and fostering strong internal and external relationships.Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Dynamics NAV, SharePoint, and/or M365 is a plus.Eligibility to work in New Zealand is essential.Pae Toru – Te Mau me Te Whakahoki: An understanding of Te Reo Maori and the ability to converse in the language, with a desire and ability to practice correct pronunciation of Te Reo Maori.Pae Toru – Te Aro Wairua: An understanding and living of Tikanga Maori on an Ao Wairua level, knowing and practising things such as karanga, whaikorero, whakapapa, karakia tahito, and moteatea.We are a tight-knit bunch, passionate about supporting Maori landowners to protect and enhance their land.
