Whakarongorau aims to be there when face to face health and social services cannot, providing consistent, clinically supported access to services for those in need or when people are unable to access other options due to location, time of day, financial or cultural barriers.
Job DescriptionWhakarongorau supports a comprehensive range of clinics across Aotearoa, consisting of a mix of nurse-led and Health Care Assistant (HCA) assisted clinics. These clinics employ both in-person and remote General Practitioners to ensure continuity of care for our registered patients, primarily serving high-needs rural communities and priority populations.
This is a contract role for 6 - 12 months and you must have availability to work a minimum of 2 days per week (Monday to Friday)
As a General Practitioner with Whakarongorau you will:
Provide specialist GP care tailored to meet the unique needs of our patientsCollaborate with clinic nurses and HCAs to deliver optimal healthcare servicesIntegrate seamlessly with the clinic team to enhance patient careConduct remote telehealth consultations effectively and efficientlyUnderstand local services and work to overcome barriers to accessing these servicesQualificationsWe are seeking an experienced General Practitioner who is a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. You will be passionate about delivering high-quality care to rural and high-needs communities and be willing to go the extra mile to ensure a quality service experience for both patients and the clinic team.
Strong communication and relationship-building skillsTeamwork and problem-solving abilitiesExperience in remote work is preferable but not essentialConfidence in using Patient Management SystemsFlexibility and commitment to working full days, with specific working hours open for discussionIntegrate understanding and learnings of Te Ao Maori, Tikanga and Te Reo into approach and delivery of careTo succeed in this role, you will need:
A high-speed fibre internet connection (not wireless or mobile internet)A high-spec computer capable of handling high-demand softwareA multi-screen setup, headset, printer, and scannerYou will need a private space to work from that ensures the confidentiality of conversations, documents, and technology.
