Marine Engineer

Atlas Concrete has been in business for 70+ years supplying ready mix concrete, pre-cast concrete, aggregate and other related supplies to the wider Auckland and Northland regions. We have 9 branches across 4 divisions: Atlas Concrete, Atlas Quarries, Mt Rex Shipping, Atlas Tilt Slab.Based at our Helensville, Mt Rex Shipping depot, we are looking for an Engineer for our self-propelled 48m sand dredging barge.The ideal applicant will be Marine Engineer qualified with Mec6 or higher or mechanic with trade certification wanting to get into the marine industry. The engineer's duties are varied, including but not limited to engine room start up and shut down, servicing, barge maintenance, rope work and vessel preparations.A willingness to learn all aspects of our barging operation is essential with Health and Safety an important part of the operation with on-going training being a part of this role.This role would suit someone with experience in the seafaring industry who is a motivated, approachable person, a team player and can demonstrate a good work ethic and has own reliable transport. Opportunity for industry training to the right applicant is available.Hours: Trip schedule based on tides. Remuneration will be negotiated with the successful applicant.Note: Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and are required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
