Maori Student Engagement Coordinator at The University of Waikato, WaikatoThis position plays a pivotal role in supporting Maori students and encouraging their participation and achievement across all levels of study. You will manage and coordinate effective Maori student support services to all Maori students enrolled within the STEM Division with the aim of improving retention, achievement, and completions. Helping to recruit Maori students is also part of the position.The successful applicant will coordinate the Division's Puoho Hubs and Whitiki Tauira Maori Mentors in alignment with the aims and objectives of the Maori Equity Fund and the University's strategic plan. This role sits within the STEM Division administrative team but also works closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Maori Office.Salary will be in the range of $82,795 to $94,691 per year based on skills, knowledge, and experience brought to the position.Ko wai koe? - Who are you?You will be looking for a challenging role where you can make a real difference to individuals as you support their needs in their graduate and post-graduate studies. You will understand the needs of Maori and have an ability to work closely and empathetically with Maori students and staff. You will be fluent in Te Reo Maori and have a sound understanding of tikanga Maori through your previous relevant work experience in this field. Ideally, you will have a background in STEM.You will need to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, have good computer literacy, and have a proactive attitude.
