Te Wero - The Challenge Far North District Council operates 15 wastewater treatment plants, 8 potable water supplies, urban stormwater networks, and 4 land drainage districts.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager to head our waters team managing these critical services.
In this role, you will provide management, leadership, and technical expertise to our waters operations and maintenance contract.
Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance in potable water, wastewater discharge, and stormwater networks, as well as overseeing the land drainage districts.
Additionally, you will play a key role in overseeing the Water Service Delivery Plans in accordance with the Water Services Policy and Legislation.
We're seeking a candidate with: A Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Advanced Civil Diploma, Operations Management, or equivalent experience.
10+ years in the Waters sector (local government or private).
5+ years in leadership.
Proven skills in program, project, financial, and contract management.
Strong knowledge of asset and network management, waters construction, maintenance, and engineering principles.
Deep understanding of Regional Council water functions.
Excellent budget management and financial reporting.
Ability to navigate complex environments and ambiguity.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

The salary for this position is Grade 22 within Council's salary structure, plus Kiwi Saver.
