About the role | Ko tenei turanga mahi We're seeking a talented and experienced senior leader to join our Infrastructure Group and lead a dedicated, passionate team responsible for the planning, management, maintenance and operations of Nelson's transport network. This is a key leadership position that will play a crucial role in continuing to shape our region's transport future. Key responsibilities | Nga uara hihiri Lead the transport business unit, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence Lead the development and implementation of transport strategies and plans that align with the city's vision, community aspirations, and environmental sustainability targets Ensure asset and activity management plans are well integrated with relevant objectives and are the building blocks of a robust long-term plan Ensure the operational activities of the transport network are well managed, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and deliver transport infrastructure projects, promoting connectivity, safety, and accessibility About you | Ko nga pumanawa o To be successful in this role, you will have: Proven experience in leading and managing teams, preferably in a transport or infrastructure context Strong strategic thinking and the ability to develop and implement innovative transport solutions Sound knowledge and understanding of transport planning, policy development, and asset management Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence a range of stakeholders at a senior level Experience in managing transport projects and delivering results in a complex environment A passion for making a difference and contributing to the community What we offer | Ko nga painga mou As part of Nelson City Council, you will be working in a supportive and collaborative environment.
