You'll lead a dedicated team to manage exhibitions, educational programs, and the preservation of our rich cultural heritage.
Key to this role is building strong relationships with iwi and other stakeholders to ensure the repatriation of taonga and fostering partnerships in line with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
This is an opportunity to shape the future of the museum, ensuring compliance with ethical and legal standards while celebrating the unique history of the Far North.We're seeking a passionate and experienced leader with a background in museums, archives, or cultural heritage management.
You'll bring strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate a team, and a talent for building collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
An intermediate understanding and application of Te Reo Maori and tikanga Maori is an advantage, and your commitment to upholding ethical museum practices will be key to your success.
A relevant degree and experience in the sector are essential.

The salary for this position is Grade 18 within Council's salary structure ($96,643 - $113,697 per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
